ESD training for multipliers and organizations in the field of sustainable and regenerative
food systems
Kontext
The Climate-Bites: Nurturing Youth Agency through Food Awareness (Climate-Bites) project is an international, Erasmus+ funded professional development program implemented in Germany and Hungary that aims to empower young people by raising their awareness of food systems and eating habits.
The project aims to highlight the links between climate change and the everyday lives of young people, to raise awareness and to promote active engagement with these critical issues.
Concept
This concept of empowerment is promoted by training providers in the informal (youth workers, speakers, multipliers) and formal (teachers) education sector who are dedicated to environmental education for young people in Germany and Hungary.
Participants in the Climate Bites project will explore tools and methods for education for sustainable development (ESD) together by designing and implementing a food co-development lab (Food CoLab) and have the opportunity to participate in a final in-person event. At the end of the five-week program, participants should have acquired specific skills and knowledge that they can apply in their daily work with young people.
Target groups
Group 1 – 8 local organizations, 4 in Germany and 4 in Hungary, that support the implementation of the Food CoLab by providing their resources, knowledge and best practices in the field of ESD (more specifically: climate education related to eating habits and regenerative food systems).
Group 2 – 10 Food CoLab participants per country: youth workers, facilitators, teachers and other educators, as well as staff from organizations working with youth. They will be trained and sensitized to better understand the global, national, local and individual levels of climate change and food systems as complex global challenges.
Activities
a participatory design and co-design process involving various educational stakeholders, especially teachers and local environmental organizations working with young people, to select didactic and methodological content on the topic of food systems that can be used in various curricular and extracurricular activities.
as a final event with the participants of the Food CoLab (e.g. visiting an urban garden or a sustainable food production site)
on the perception of food systems by young people in Germany and Hungary.
