Climate Action Academy

The Climate Action Academy is a course online on Climate Change and Green Solutions, developed for educators from primary to higher education, who empower the educational communities of their region, and for university students (without course restrictions) engaged in promoting positive impacts, in order to empower active agents in relation to climate action.

The aim of this program is to prepare educators and young university students to teach and act on Climate Change through an interdisciplinary perspective, not only limited to mathematics and science, but also encompassing social studies, geography, civic education, the arts, history, languages and other areas of study.

Commons Sustainability

Commons Sustainability is a program run by 2811 Global, in partnership with Ashoka and the Institute for Sustainable Development of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, which aims to accelerate learning projects focused on sustainability, starting with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) throughout Latin America.

Through this 6-month program (divided into 2 periods), academics, teachers, directors and teams from HEIs as a whole – guided by experts with international experience in the subject – will be able to develop and promote curricular sustainability programs, teacher training and co-curricular experiences.

(Climate Labs)

What are Climate Labs?

Climate Labs seeks to strengthen applied research and innovation capacities in ten universities located in Mexico, Brazil and Colombia by structuring and implementing social innovation laboratories for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

In a network involving universities from Spain, France and Italy, as well as Ashoka (as a non-academic expert partner), the project aims to build interdisciplinary laboratories and multi-stakeholders that will institutionalize applied research and innovation for Climate Change in the territories of the partner institutions.

Our Mission

Innovation and applied research for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

German-Brazilian EdTech Hackathon

Our activities coordinator at 2811 Brasil, Monique Roque, was present as one of the mentors at the “German-Brazilian EdTech Hackathon”, organized by the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Freie Universität Berlin (FU), University of Münster, and the organizations re:edu GmbH & Co. KG, DWIH São Paulo and Goethe-Institut São Paulo.

The Edtech Hackathon was a two-day event held in São Paulo, Brazil, which aimed to develop technological solutions to local and global challenges in the field of education. Anyone interested in the topic could submit challenge proposals. In this sense, 2811 Brazil proposed the following challenge: “How, through technology, could we develop smarter and more sustainable cities, considering systemic thinking, digital skills, climate education and the ability to mobilize others to find solutions capable of dealing with local climate change?”

Brazilian Coalition for Climate Education

2811 Brasil was one of the founding organizations of the Brazilian Coalition for Climate Education (CBEC), an initiative of the Climate Reality Project Brasil.

The Coalition is an important initiative formed by organizations, collectives and individuals who are committed to promoting education on Climate Change in Brazil. The Coalition seeks to raise awareness of the importance of climate education in the fight for climate justice, so that the Brazilian population can act consciously on the causes, effects and solutions of Climate Change, in order to increase the country’s capacity to deal with these issues.

Education WG - A Concertation for Amazonia

2811 Brasil participates in the Education Working Group (WG) of the “A Concertation for the Amazon” network.

“A Concertation for the Amazon is a broad, diverse and plural network of people, institutions and companies formed to seek solutions for the conservation and sustainable development of this territory and the improvement of the quality of life of those who live in it.

The Network brings together more than 500 committed leaders and develops a democratic space for dozens of initiatives in defense of the Amazon to meet, dialogue, increase the impact of their actions and generate new projects and projects in favor of the forest and the people who live in the region.

To this end, they hold thematic meetings with the participation of experts and representatives from different sectors and create Working Groups that meet to debate and produce knowledge on specific topics”
