Thesis analyzes the Latin American university context of teaching social entrepreneurship
Thesis / How to establish a social entrepreneurship education program in the university context.
Summary
The objective of this study was to identify the key elements to establish a social entrepreneurship program in the Latin American university context, considering the success factors and the challenges to be faced. The information was collected through qualitative research focused on interviews with experts and analysis of secondary literature. The cases analyzed were four Latin American universities: Popular University of the State of Puebla – UPAEP (Puebla, Mexico), Tecnológico de Monterrey – Guadalajara Campus (Mexico), Universidad del Desarrollo – UDD (Concepción, Chile) and College of Higher Administration Studies – CESA (Bogotá, Colombia)
The education model must be based on a multidisciplinary approach, supported by solid networks and resources leveraged through alliances and proximity to investors. As for the study plan, it must consist of a phase of planning, execution and evaluation in which the objectives, tools and competences of the students are considered. All these elements help HEIs to reduce the gap between knowing and doing through collective action. This research also gives recommendations and shares good practices that should be considered to create or strengthen a study program in order to bring change-making students closer to their local and global realities.
