A collective awareness regarding the actions that our planet needs is increasingly necessary. From 2811 We approach these actions not only from the perspective of finding ways to hold (sustainability) what already exists, but from the need to regenerate (regeneration) economic and financial, social and ecological systems.
With this approach and delving into one of the areas of our work, we ask ourselves: if the ways in which we have related to the economy and finance have harmed ecosystems, couldn’t they help to repair them?
A bet in this direction that has been advanced in Latin America are the projects focused on what are called Sustainable Landscapes , as a way to protect the environment and the well-being of the communities that inhabit them.
In Colombia, the Sustainable Landscapes project is in force, which seeks to contribute to the protection of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and to sustainable production in the Andean and Caribbean landscapes. This initiative, in turn, is part of the great project Colombian Heritage .
Within the framework of this project, 2811 has been supporting and working with the sustainable finance team of WWF Colombia in the design of the resource mobilization strategy for the development of sustainable Andes and Caribbean landscapes in the country. In turn, and similarly, in Mexico, SVX Mx has been leading a similar effort within the framework of the project Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Landscapes .
Thus we see how the development and consolidation of Sustainable Landscapes become a priority for the region. Common challenges can already be identified among the programs in the different countries, such as reaching a joint understanding of the concept of Sustainable Landscapes, how to enable the flourishing of productive projects and opportunities for impact investment and financing in the territories, how to maintain an active and leading role of communities in these processes and how to ensure the flow of resources and capital for the development of sustainable landscapes, among others.
Let's meet to reflect together on the challenges and opportunities that arise from resource mobilization strategies for Sustainable Landscapes in Latin America! -FLII 2023
2811 will be leading the Cross-sector collaboration in the development of sustainable landscapes in LATAM workshop within the framework of the Latin American Impact Investing Forum ( FLII Roots 2023 ) , to be held from February 28 to March 2 in the city of Mérida, in Mexico.
This space, which will take place on Thursday, March 2 at 11am (Mexico time) , It aims to create a participatory and co-creation space where the challenges raised above can be discussed and work together to find solutions. Since 2811, with its perspective of economic regeneration, it seeks to highlight the importance of the same communities and other relevant actors that are part of the ecosystem leading the process of consolidation of sustainable landscapes in Latin America, in order to promote development of them and improve the well-being of the people who inhabit them.
